Smile of Destiny

Poetry from Oman

When you smile from your heart,

Your destiny smiles for you

Like my destiny smiles only for me!

Why my destiny can’t smile for both of us?!

*****

A smile of destiny

That’s only for you

Can’t look like my other smiles

Can’t hide behind any clouds

 *****

When you smile from your heart,

Your smile finds the way to my heart

Why your destiny doesn’t find both of us?!

*****

A chance of destiny

To me and you

Has just stolen a moment of smile

The one which was only one

That remained one for whoever waited for

Has just gone!

And no destiny remained for us!!

 *****

My love

When my smile flies to the destiny,

The sky is NOT my limit!!

Appendix:

Whenever there is a pure beginning,

There is no end!

Am I looking for happy ending?

Or just accepting happy beginning?!

I thought I'm giving an opportunity to my destiny

But, there was neither opportunity nor destiny

Sorry to myself

It seems I just stolen one

The one which was only one

That remained one for whoever waited for

I wonder as you wonder

How far it’s real

 *****

A morning smile

That’s only for you

Can’t look like any other one

A chance of destiny

A smile of destiny

About the Author

Lubna Al Balushi

Lubna Al Balushi

Lubna Al Balushi, 31, is probably the frist Omani poet who has ever written in German. She studied German at the Goethe Institut in Muscat and won a scholarship to continue her studies in Freiburg, Germany. Back in Oman, she worked on her German skills on her own - and fell  so deeply in love with the sounds and rhythms of this language that she started to use it to express her feelings. Her booklet "Schönheit des Herzens", Beauty of the Heart, is an exquisite collection of 54 poems, that opens up a "window" - as we say in German - to her soul. Now she has started to write in English as well to reach a broader audience.

Lubna has an MBA from the University of Bradford and works for a Swiss company in the Omani capital.

And: She loves the colour Pink. Pink, she says, is the colour of women, of beauty and happiness, and it is the colour of falling in love. She loves to dress in Pink and to think Pink - even more so, whenever she has been confronted with the darker sides of life .
